Backhand topspin balance

Strokes

 Hi alois,

When playing a backhand topspin, I usually will come upwards and then fall backwards. It happens most often when done against backspin when I have to lift the ball up and my body will come upwards. And of the block my body will fall backwards as I'm swinging my arm already.l the way through until it snaps behind my body dragging my body backwards. I can maintain my balance by not doing the full swing but then my backhand topspin is less powerful. Even when my body is leaning forward, I will still come upwards and fall backwards, any tips

Hi Eugene,

Try to stay even lower with your legs.  Also allow your shoulder to relax.  If this is tight it will drag your body around as you swing.  Think about the joint in your shoulder.  It is a ball and socket joint.  Think about this allowing the ball in the socket to move freely.

I don't get it. My arms are very relaxed I just let it floe and almost no tension. But when my arms are stiff. I can maintain my balance when having a tense arm. Maybe you can explain more detailed to me in the ask the coach show

I am not sure then what you are doing with it Eugene to get yourself unbalanced.  You nay have to show me.

I don't know if you ever experience this when you play the backhand topspin and and at the finish position, your arm weight is behind your body and that is the weight that pulls you backwards. That's my problem. Perhaps Jeff knows

Hi Eugene,

As Alois mentioned since you are a premium member you can send us through a short video of you playing this stroke and then we'll be able to help you more effectively. It really is a good way to get some good advice :)
