Strokes

Hi Alois ! ! My question is, the backhand topspin  stroke from a flat ball goes straight ahead or up ? Does the forehand topspin and the backhand topspin have the same trajectory and hitting point ? Should I relate to this ? I just can't find the perfect bat position for making a backhand topspin. . Too close I hit the ball with the edge or missing it,  too open the ball goes out . . Thank you

Hi Paul,

Both topspins have similar hitting points in relation to your body.  They are both hit in front of you.

Focus on keeping the bat open for the backhand topspin to start with and brush up the back of the ball.  As you get more confident you can brush over the top of the ball more.  Go slowly initially.

Take a look at our lesson on the Backhand Topspin Against Block and the Backhand Topspin Off Backspin for some more help with the stroke.
