Hi coach,

I am having troubling in switching quickly to backhand for shots that come to my left and when I do switch my finger gets in the way or I give an easy shot for the opponent, I have watched your video on backhand counterhit but am having trouble in giving the stroke power. I can also attack the ball with forehand from the top but giving it topspin by bringing the bat from below and hitting is difficult as the ball touches my side of the table or flies off past the opponents' side. I really need your advice.

Hi Daiyan,

Watch this video on Improving Your Reflexes.  The main thing is not your backhand technique but more on being ready early enough to hit the backhand properly.  Getting a good position will depend on how well you are tracking the ball and how early you get your racket in position to play the shot.

For the forehand topspin focus on the contact being a brushing contact.  Again watch the ball carefully and focus on getting a good contact on the ball.

Strawberry Flick

The strawberry flick is the opposite of the banana flick and involves utilising the wrist to get the ball spinning with topspin and sidespin. Used in conjunction with the banana flick it can be very deceptive. The banana flick is a more reliable stroke and that's why you see more top players using it over the strawberry flick.
