Hi, can you please make a Video for Backhand dominant Players. If they are playing backhands from the middle, how often should they use their forehand from the middle and how can they stop being predictable? And also, how much does placement matter in a game and when should I change the tempo of my topspins with both the backhand and forehand?

Hi Gabriel,

Sounds like a good idea for a video.  We will film this next time we are filming.

For now some things to consider:

  • The middle ball is a really important part to practice in training.  Making good decisions in this era is often overlooked.  Spend time with your training partner placing a lot of balls there.
  • Whether you play a forehand or backhand in that area depends a lot on what happened with the previous ball and your movement
  • Think about the angle you want to play the next ball to
  • Also then think about your strengths

Stay tuned.

Thank you Alois,

Great points!

I was making a more rigid crossover point and pretty much stuck to that.  Unfortunately, it doesn't always work and I find myself either hesitating or getting jammed up.

I guess having too inflexible a determination point is not the way to go.
