Hi Pingskills,

My name is Aaron Black and i have been playing for quite a while and i am learning backhand chop however when my coach loops it its too strong and the practice breaks down after two or three shots.

What methods of practice could i use to get better at chopping.

Hi Aaron,

Firstly you need to look at technique.  What does your coach say about your technique?

If the ball is going too long you can get your stroke to be more vertical, so starting high and coming more straight down on the ball.  If there is too much forward momentum then you don't need to be pushing the ball forward.

Have you had a look at our lesson on the Backhand Chop in our free lessons.  This will also help you with your technique.

See if you can get your coach to hit some more balls like this to you.
