Backhand block from wide

Strokes

Recently in my game, when my opponent hits a fast shot to my backhand and I don't have time to counterloop it, I'll usually block it but I have difficulties doing that when the ball bounces off the side of the table. If I do manage to do that the ball will go too high. Help, please?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Arien,

The key here is to move to the side with your body to get a better position to make the stroke.

If you just move your arm out sideways it is more difficult to control what your hand and arm are doing.

Sometimes you may be forced to do this because of time.  In that case really focus on the movement of your hand, trying to keep it steady and moving in the direction that you would for a normal block from in front of your body.
