Dear alois,

I am very weak at backhand strokes, when my opponent hit or serve to my backhand side of the table i could not return it with power because i always hit it out of the table.  How can i make it on the table?

Also,i'm always frustrated when returning a stroke lower than the net.  I always do a backhand push in to the net and whenever i did return it it's nice and high with no backspin and the opponet can get it. How could i make it difficult for my opponent?

Hi Jiadong,

Try to get the technique of the backhand stroke right.  If you get the stroke right then you will be able to start to get more consistency and confidence in the stroke.

Take a look through the lessons on the Backhand Counterhit and the Backhand Topspin Against Block.

When the ball is low with backspin then you need to do the Backhand Topspin Off Backspin.  This is an important stroke to learn in a match situation otherwise your opponent will always be able to keep you on the defensive by keeping the ball low on your backhand side.
