I've recently started using a short pip rubber on my forehand. I've seen few people playing with short pips and attacking just about every ball with backspin and topspin. I want to know the advantages of short pips how to execute those strokes. I would really appreciate this help
I have played for about 16 years and trying to make a comeback after 4 years of absence.
Hi Tharindu,
The short pimples don't react as much to spin so you can hit through the ball easier.
It can be an effective way to play but you need to be very precise with your strokes. You are not generating as much topspin on the ball so there is less margin for error with your strokes.
Make sure you buy a table tennis bat that is suitable for your level and allows you to develop your technique. For your first bat we recommend the PingSkills Rook, and when you upgrade to a custom bat we recommend the PingSkills Touch with Mark V or Rakza 7.
