Hi sir,

I've got a question about my anti spin rubber.

What is the best way to block the ball? (on the backhand)

See you,

Huub from Holland

Hi Huub,

Blocking with Anti spin can be difficult.  You need to get the angle of your racket just right as you can’t generate topspin on the block.  In fact it will have a bit of backspin on it as the topspin from your opponent will convert to backspin.  This will mean that the ball will float and not dip.

Try to get the ball at a high point to give yourself the best chance of finding the table and having a straight line from the hitting point to the table.

You could also try the chop block.  This is a short chop from close to the table.  We show this stroke in our Premium lesson on Long Pimple Chop Block which is basically the same stroke.
