Hello PingSkills,

I have 2 questions about rubbers... First, I want your opinion about what rubber to use if don't play at competition level and I want a racket for training and playing for fun that lasts for a long time. I watched the video where you said that a normal rubber lasts for about 80 playing hours and I asked this to find an answer... I used to think that I should made a racket with short pimples and 1.5-1.9mm sponge or something like that... What do you think?

And second, if I don't play (too) at competition level, you know any substances to boost my rubber (especially grip)?  I tried with oil, but nothing happened...

Thanks in advance. :D

Hi Paul,

If you are not playing at a high level then something like a Mark V rubber will last quite a while.  The Tensor rubbers tend to wear out quicker because they are already stretched.

As far as a substance to put on the rubber, I don't have any suggestions only that the oil doesn't work if put on the surface.

I wouldn't recommend putting anything on your rubber. It is actually against the rules to modify your rubber and I'm not convinced of the benefits.
