During a rally, when the ball with heavy spin touches the net will the spin be neutralized?

Hi Arien,

The spin will be softened a little bit but a strange thing happens when the ball hits the net that a lot of players don't cope with.

As I said the spin will slow a little but the speed of the ball slows more. This means the ball is not moving as fast through the air so the effect of the spin to move the ball sideways or up is more.

If they hit a topspin and the ball hits the net you will often see players hit that shot off the end of the table.  You need to adjust the angle of your bat more downwards in this situation.

So in fact when the ball hits the net the real effect is that the ball feels like it is spinning more.
