Why does regular rubber cement make a rubber expand

I have glued my rubbers a few times in an emergency with rubber cement that my wife had in the closet. When I used this it made the rubber grow? Why is this?

Hi Casey,

The rubber cement must have some chemical in there that expands the rubber.  It is best not to use it.  Did you find it difficult to remove?

Tone is in Your Fingers

There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!

No it was very very easy to remove.

Back in the day when players would speed glue would the rubbers expand every time they would speed glue?

Hi Casey,

The rubber would expand when glued and then contract again over time.
