I'm trying to know which rubber is better if spin is the one in which we are going to base the skills. Is it a very grippy rubber or is it a very high standard pimpled rubber? Can you please demonstrate why?
Hi Cloud,
The grippy rubber will help with spin. The pimple rubber is better for control of the ball.
The pimple doesn't generate as much spin because when the ball hits the rubber it doesn't touch as much of the surface so you get less grip on the ball.
I think players should start with a inverted pimple rubber to get good control and spin. Then later they can change to other types of rubber when their game develops.
Make sure you buy a table tennis bat that is suitable for your level and allows you to develop your technique. For your first bat we recommend the PingSkills Rook, and when you upgrade to a custom bat we recommend the PingSkills Touch with Mark V or Rakza 7.
