Where to do backhand serve

Serving

Hi Alois,

I have a pretty good pendulum serve. I have been working on my backhand serve. It is not that good. I want to improve it to give my opponent a different look. I figure a good start would be to know where I should stand. Should I stand in the backhand corner, middle, or forehand corner? Maybe more than one position? Should I have my left foot in front ( I am right handed), right foot in front, or feet even? Lastly, should I be standing on an angle? Maybe the premium members can vote on this question for a backhand serve video. Thanks.

Hi Anthony,

Try to stand fairly central to the table so that you don’t have to move much for the next ball.  You could have your right foot slightly ahead of you left if you feel more comfortable like that but then move it quickly back into the ready position for the next ball.

We have a lesson on the Backhand serve in our Serving Secrets Section. Backhand Serve.
