Training
A player is very consistent having everyday practice but - When we do not play table tennis for a period of time for "say one month" and finally after one month without playing table tennis coming and playing on the table might be a little difficult task. At this stage, on what should we focus on? How to learn back the same strokes we were doing? Or is just a little wiggle which we can correct by ourselves? How?
Thank you,
Ganesh
Hi Ganesh,
After a break the thing I always stress is allowing yourself to adjust and get your feel back again. Just hit a lot of balls consistently. Allow yourself to feel the ball again. Once you have that you will find your strokes will all come back very naturally.
Don't rush it.
Although attacking is the most popular style at the top level in Table Tennis, it is important to be able to defend well. If you choose to play a defensive style then you should be practicing these strokes all the time. If you play an attacking stroke then you should still try and find some time for these strokes. If you can win one extra point by defending well when pressured, it could make the difference between winning and losing.
