Hi alois, as I have transitioned to a chopper i have been trying to learn as much about the style as possible. I was wondering how filus and gionis are able to stay solid top 50 players because when they chop in a match v any top 50 players their opponent is rarely going to miss vs backspin because of the calibre of the player regardless of the amount spin. When they go fh to fh its nothing eg (ma long) has never seen before and could probably go fh to fh quite comfortably training with the likes of XX and FZD. So i was wondering how they are able to stay at a top 50 level with no serious weapons? thanks

Hi Tam,

They rely a lot on variation between defence and offence.  Even though their forehand attack may not be as strong as other attacking players, it is the change between a chop and then the attack that gives players trouble.

They also vary the chop they make, with spin speed and placement to find the mistake or the higher ball that they can attack.
