Strokes
hi alois and jeff,
is there a way i can win a point using a slow spinny topspin for a long or bouncy return and then killing it with a smash or loop (fast) in succession? i can loop fairly fast but cant get the slow spinny topspin right.
how do i generate more topspin when i play that stroke?
also when i do get a slow spinny topspin right, i almost never get a loop but counter-smashes work well. can u offer any advice on the looping?

Hi Shripathi,
To get the slow spinny loop right you need to start quite low and have a vertical stroke. The vertical stroke will mean that you are not generating too much pace on the ball.
This should get you a higher ball on the next ball that you can hit harder with either a faster topspin or a smash.
It is easiest to play this stroke when the ball is just long off the end of the table. When it comes fast the speed of the ball makes it more difficult to control it slow back. It is possible but you need to have a more vertical stroke to do it right.
In this video, we dive into the forehand push, a crucial defensive stroke in table tennis that allows you to control rallies with effective backspin. We break down the three key concepts—start position, feet position, and finish position—to help you execute the stroke with precision. You'll also learn how to adjust your bat angle to generate varying degrees of backspin, depending on the spin your opponent imparts on the ball. Finally, we'll guide you through practical drills to enhance your proficiency and consistency with the forehand push, ensuring you're well-prepared for your next match. Whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your technique, this tutorial will provide you with the tools to master the forehand push.
