Using backhand too much

Strokes

I've recently got back into Table Tennis having taken a length break from it. What I'm seeing in my own play is that I'm favouring my backhand more than my forehand to the extent that I'm covering 3/4 of the table with my backhand. My backhand is fairly strong and I am working to get a more effective forehand, is there anything you can suggest so that I'm using my forehand more regularly?

Hi Richard,

Start with simply altering your stance at the table.  Move to your left and put your left foot slightly forward.  This will get you in a better position to hit the forehand.  In training, mark a line on the table, either in your mind or with a marker on the table of where you want to be playing forehand and where you want to be playing backhand.  You can even play a game where this is one of the rules.

This will force you to change your position and way of thinking about the percentage of forehands you play.
