Hi Alois and Jeff! I have discovered a fact about shakehand wrist flexibility.as everyone knows shakehand has only 90 degree flexibity vertically but shakehand has 180 degree flexibility horizontally. Does this help in increase in speed. One more thing is that penhold has only 90 degree flexibity horizontally and does this reduce the power that can be exerted.

Hi Hari,

Both techniques can use the wrist in 180 degree motion just for different things.

Penhold uses the wrist this way for serving.  Shakehand can use it better for backhand.

When you can use your wrist with more motion you will increase speed of the racket.

Anticipation

How is it that a player can always seem to get back those extremely fast topspins? Is it their incredible anticipation? The key to good anticipation actually lies in tracking the ball well. When you watch the ball closely your peripheral vision will pick up your opponents movements and with lots of practice those signs will help you anticipate what your opponent is going to do. This happens naturally with lots of experience. So it it your job to ensure that you are tracking the ball really carefully.
