Troubles with backhand topspin off backspin

Hi Alois and Pingskills

i have a real problem with my backhand topspin off backspin. If i hit the ball from down to up, it goes out of the table. If i hit it forward but with wrist, it goes to the net...how i can get an effective backhand topspin??is possible make a slow spinny backhand topspin?? how i do it??

Hi Cristh,

It is a matter of degrees.  If the ball is going long, make the stroke more forward.  If it is going out then make it more upward.  Like with all the shots you have learned, it comes from trial and error with the angles.  Persevere, it will come.  It is a more difficult stroke because of the fine contact so it may take longer, but it will get there.

I dont know but i think the rubber really helps. I used to use a very slow rubber in my first year and i learned the backhand topspin but it doesnt work. Now i use a faster rubber and its easy. Might be because i'm better at it.

What rubber do you use?

i'm using a very soft rubber and i don't like it...a LKT Pro XP, i'm thinking in a harder rubber, i believe that feel the ball is easier.
