My backhand a lot of the times keep hitting the net when the ball is returned long or it goes over also this is a slight problem with my forehand it keeps either hitting the net or going over. How do i overcome this problem? with my forehand this problem is overcome when i use my entire body but sometimes the ball is too fast to react to and when i hit with forehand it usually hits the net.

Hi Fabian,

I think the key may be to get more topspin on the ball.  This will give you a better trajectory over the net.

If the ball come fast or deep on your side of the table then try to take a small step backwards to give yourself more time and distance to hit the ball properly.

The extra topspin will mean that you can hit the ball higher over the net and the topspin will still bring the ball back down on the table.

Most players are told to always return to the ready position after every stroke but that might be hurting your game. In this video, we reveal a smarter way to recover:

✔ Track the ball immediately after your shot
✔ Move your racket into position for the next shot instead of blindly resetting
✔ Improve your timing, balance, and flow during rallies

Whether you’re a beginner or advanced player, understanding this subtle change can have a big impact on your consistency and speed around the table.
