Training with a different racket

Equipment

Greetings from Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, and yes, I am one of your fans, thanks for such a great table tennis site!

My question: I prefer to train with the same racket I use to play but others use a heavier one or with lower quality rubbers to train because this will force them to play better with their superior racket. What is your advice?

Thanks,

Hi Hector,

You are definitely on the right track.

You should always train with the racket you are going to play matches with.  Table Tennis is too much about the fine skills to have different equipment between training and playing matches.

Thanks for the kind words about our site.

Tone is in Your Fingers

There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!
