Training
I have a school tournament that's coming up in 3 weeks time. Any suggestions on how to prepare for it or with any other tournament?
Hi Jasper,
The main thing is to transition to more relevant training for matches such as more serve and serve return. You can move away from regular drills and do more drills with random play and decision making.
These elements will allow you to get used to what is happening in a match situation.
One thing you can be sure of is that every top player will be able to keep the ball on the table with a solid block when under pressure. It seems that this is a pre-requisite to becoming a good player. That's why in this training session we focus on improving your block. If you can absorb your opponent's attack you will be in a good position to win a match against them.

On match day, is it recommended to visualise the positive situations and negative situations of the match of a particular opponent?
It is good to think about your strategy including some ideas of what your opponent will be trying to do.

When is the best moment to consider taking a timeout during the match? I'm thinking it's near the beginning because winning the first set will boost my confidence for the match
