Training
I have a school tournament that's coming up in 3 weeks time. Any suggestions on how to prepare for it or with any other tournament?
Hi Jasper,
The main thing is to transition to more relevant training for matches such as more serve and serve return. You can move away from regular drills and do more drills with random play and decision making.
These elements will allow you to get used to what is happening in a match situation.
Do you want to win games? If so you must keep practicing your short push return of serve. This is one of the most critical shots in Table Tennis. The ability to execute this shot well will be the difference between you being an average player and a great player. It is that important. Make sure you go out and follow this session so that your short push becomes your secret weapon.

On match day, is it recommended to visualise the positive situations and negative situations of the match of a particular opponent?
It is good to think about your strategy including some ideas of what your opponent will be trying to do.

When is the best moment to consider taking a timeout during the match? I'm thinking it's near the beginning because winning the first set will boost my confidence for the match
