Topspin using pimple

Is it possible to topsin the ball using a long and short pimple? Or is it only used for defense?

Hi Khang,

You can topspin using short pimples.  It does not generate as much spin as with normal rubber though.

Long pimples will depend on the type.  If they have very little friction on them then it is almost impossible.  If you play against a backspin ball then the ball will go back with topspin, but this is relying on the spin of your opponent rather than generating your own spin.
