Topspin against backspin contact point

Hi Alois,

When playing a topspin ball against backspin, where is the contact point ? At the center(middle), above the center or below the center of the ball. Should I brush the ball with maximum friction or should I hit the ball more flat? How long should the contact be (short or a little longer)?

Hi Jürgen,

The less spin the more you can come over the top of the ball.  If it is really heavy spin then think about hitting it right at the centre of the ball but it needs to be a fast brushing upward action.  This will have a short contact time and a very fast friction to lift the ball.  The ball will grip into the rubber and be lifted up.
