Hi Alois. Ive been noticing significant improvement ever since I developed good and tricky serves. I was thinking how much time should I be spending on practising serves compared to other parts of my game since my serves are a big part of my strengths. And what about time spent returning serves since returning serves is undoubtedly the hardest skill in table tennis?

Hi Jasper,

Serving and returning serves can make or break a table tennis match. For developing serves, I’d recommend spending around 30 minutes per session working on them. When refining your serves, it’s important to focus on spins, placement, and speed. You should also vary each serve to keep your opponents guessing. It’s also important to focus on returning serves, and I’d recommend setting aside around 15 minutes per session to practice returning serves. During this time, you should focus on reading the spin of the serve.  I hope this helps.

#12 - Defensive Technique

Although attacking is the most popular style at the top level in Table Tennis, it is important to be able to defend well. If you choose to play a defensive style then you should be practicing these strokes all the time. If you play an attacking stroke then you should still try and find some time for these strokes. If you can win one extra point by defending well when pressured, it could make the difference between winning and losing.
