Hi Ian,

The ghost serve is only a heavy backspin serve without much forward momentum.  The fact that is has less forward momentum means that the backspin takes over and the ball comes back towards the net.

I should have said it clear, but since a ghost serve has a lot of backspin, how can you keep the ball from going to fast or to slow?    Thanks.

Just trial and error to get the speed right.

It is not a serve that you should be aiming for.  Just work on getting a lot of backspin on the ball.

I finally got the ghost serve. But theres alot of air time, and the opponent can easily spot it. I believe its not a really practical serve to do in a competitive game. Just want to know who on the competitive scene use this serve in a real match.

Hi Peter,

It is never really used in a competitive situation because as you say it has too much hang time and will allow your opponent too much time to read it and react.
