Strokes
What is the best way of holding a bat? Most top Chinese players use a different fingering to normal people like me. I've tried their strokes but I don't know how to receive it using the backhand.
Hi John,
It seems to me that more and more Chinese are now using the shakehand grip but they still do have a lot of good players using the penhold grip. To see how to hold the bat correctly watch this video on the topic.
We also have a video on penhold techniques which will show you how to play the backhand using that grip.
The strawberry flick is the opposite of the banana flick and involves utilising the wrist to get the ball spinning with topspin and sidespin. Used in conjunction with the banana flick it can be very deceptive. The banana flick is a more reliable stroke and that's why you see more top players using it over the strawberry flick.
