Taking advantage of a net

This might depend on the individual but I notice that all elite table tennis players will smash the weak return from the opponent after their stroke slides over the net. Then they raise their finger to acknowledge their luck. I would feel guilty for taking advantage of that and in my opinion a let should be called. I also feel like pushing the ball short just to let them back in the rally would be sportsmanship like even though I know that they won't do the same.

What is your opinion?

Thanks :)

Hi Mikey,

I think it is OK do play on and try your best after a net.  It is all part of the game.  It is the same if you get an edge ball.  It all evens out in the long run.  It can still be a tricky thing to play.  Sometimes the ball can hit the net and jump up and make it easier for your opponent as well.
