Equipment
Hi Alois and Jeff,
why are there so many different (and weird) types of racket handles? For me, I only know that the three of them has the use.
Flare/master handle - most common because of easy grip and relaxing control
Peter handle (straight) - if it is rectangular, it is for easier control of the racket as a whole and easy feel
but if it is circular, it is mostly for defending. Rectangular is both for defending and all-around (not offensive)
penhold handle - not much use. Just a place to relax your hand and bring along the control of the racket in the swinging motion.
I've seen others such as legend, winner, and champ. I've wondered about their variations.
Hi Cloud,
The handle is just for comfort. Put it in your hand and feel what it is like.
The shape does not really effect performance.
There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!
