Strategy
Hello coach,
I have been playing table tennis for a year now, i have improved my techniques thanks to your videos and advice. But there are few things i would like to known. I play at my university and there are many player who attack and smash and there is not much space to actually go back from the table and stop it , so i need advice for that. And there are few players who serve really fast but pretty straight i need suggestion for playing it , although i do manage to flick them or smash them. But i really want to try something new on them , so what could be other options.
Regards
Hi Haziq,
I am glad that you have been improving.
The best thing against a player that likes to attack and smash is to stop them by keeping the ball low and to difficult positions for them. Once they have the opportunity to play a strong shot then the point is 70 to 80% in their favour.
When they play a fast long serve, try to make a topspin shot rather than a smash. The topspin is much safer and it can still be really fast.
