Strategy against lobbers

Strategy

I noticed that lobber always tire the smasher in the rally and then attack the ball when it's in their comfortable position. They also use topspin long serves. What are some strategies these type of players?

Hi Jasper,

Try to use the angles to make the lobber move.  Also vary the speed of your smash, you do't need to hit the ball at full pace all the time.

You can also use the drop shot but that is quite a difficult stroke to execute.  Take a look at our tutorial on the Drop Shot off a Lob.

Tactics Against A Defensive Chopper

A chopper likes to get back from the table and get into a nice rhythm. If you keep the defender close to the table in the early part of the rally, it's hard for them to transition back into their chopping position. So keep the ball short on your serve and try and catch them unprepared. Watch the video to find out more great tactics to use against a defensive chopper.
