Hey Alois and Jeff, I've seen many matches and I have been pondering this question for very long. Why do a lot of players stomp their feet when a serve or a serve follow through? According to my observation, right handers stomp their left foot and left handers stomp their right foot. So why do they stomp when a serve or a serve follow through?

Hi Toh,

There are a couple of reasons.  First it can be a part of the follow through of the serve to get you body into the action.

Secondly it was definitely used as a distraction to the receiver.  It can be used to disguise the sound of the ball hitting the bat which helps your oppoonent to tell what type of spin is on the ball.

Also another thing players sometimes do is stomp before or sometimes even after their serve. That makes the opponent think that you've somehow already serve the ball. Very tricky when done well
