Hi Alois. I heard stiga created a new blade which the hitting surface looks like an octagon. What do you think of this? Any advantages or disadvantages of using this blade?

Hi Jasper,

I think it is more of a marketing tool.  I really don't think it will give anyone an advantage.  In fact it may be a disadvantage if you can't use the tips of the racket that are moving fastest.

The other disadvantage I think is you can't simply use rubber previously used on conventional blade onto octagon, and vise versa. Most likely you'll need separate rubbers for octagon due to its unique shape and different cutting for rubber

Quite impressive that he got this far into the tournament.

Yes an incredible effort by Truls. I would say not really due to the shape of his racket ; ).
