Sir I am from India. and really loved your videos i am a beginner. My question is that, Can i hit the ball from side of the table that is if I stand Perpendicular to the net assembly?

Hi Sushant,
Yes you can hit the ball from there after the serve. On the serve the ball has to be behind the end line or the extension of the end line. After that you can move anywhere around the table to hit the ball.

In this video we go over the somewhat complicated rules of serving for doubles in table tennis. There are a couple of extra rules for doubles that you don't apply to singles. In doubles you always serve from the right hand box diagonally to your opponent's right hand box. Each player has 2 serves each. If you've just been receiving then it's your turn to serve next.
