Equipment
i heard that sponge has soft ,medium soft, medium and etc type of hardness
and 1.00mm to 2.2 mm thickness
what does these things all mean, whats the difference if i use a hard sponge instead of a soft one, or what if i use a 1.00 mm sponge or 2.2mm, what is the effect?
if you can present a chart about it i would really love it :D
thx coach :D
Hi Amekun,
The thickness of the sponge determines the speed and spin. The thicker sponge will make the rubber faster and also allow to generate more spin.
The harder the sponge is the less time the ball will stay on your rubber because the ball won't sink into the softer sponge. This is a matter of preference for each player.
There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!
