Training
Alois and Jeff,
I have noticed that it is possible to buy 'spin trainers' (for example Tibhar sell one, and there are cheaper versions on Amazon) that are a ball fixed to a steel cable on a stand. I think the idea is that you can practice a stroke and see how well you brush the ball. I have been unable to find any video of anyone demonstrating one of these. Are they of any real value? do you have one and could you do a video review?
Hi Nigel,
While I think they can be a good idea they are something that you only need to use for a minute or two to get the feel of the contact. They are easy enough to make. Just stick a piece of wire through a ball and get two friends to hold either end.

This week's master class is called Perfecting the Push. To have a great push you need to first see how much backspin is on the ball as it is coming towards you. Then you need to alter your stroke to counter this backspin. You also need to concentrate on generating your own backspin to make it harder for you opponent.
