Hi,

what is the dirrerence between over table push and chop and their purpose, which of them an offensive player must make use?

Hi Simon,

They are just extensions.   A push is usually referred to as a shot with less spin and close to the table.  A chop has more spin and is sometimes played from away from the table as well.

When you are close to the table the strokes are the same, just with the chop you come under the ball more to generate the spin. The chop from further away can be see in our lesson on the Forehand Chop.

Strawberry Flick

The strawberry flick is the opposite of the banana flick and involves utilising the wrist to get the ball spinning with topspin and sidespin. Used in conjunction with the banana flick it can be very deceptive. The banana flick is a more reliable stroke and that's why you see more top players using it over the strawberry flick.
