Rules
Can I randomise the rubber during the serve by spinning the bat fast just before hitting a ball tossed up? I cant see anything in the rules except it might be considered distraction?
Hi Stephen,
You are allowed to do that. Might be better to know which side you are going to hit with though rather than making it totally random...

In this video we go over the somewhat complicated rules of serving for doubles in table tennis. There are a couple of extra rules for doubles that you don't apply to singles. In doubles you always serve from the right hand box diagonally to your opponent's right hand box. Each player has 2 serves each. If you've just been receiving then it's your turn to serve next.

thanks, if I cut the ball it doesnt matter which side I use but it makes a big difference to the back spin
