Hi Coach,

Another quick question, I have recently bought your serving secrets revealed video. When I practice the pendulum side spin serves, or any other side spin serves. I see that the ball doesn't curve as much but has a lot of sidespin, is there any reason for this?

Thanks,

Akilesh

Hi Akilesh,

The amount of curve depends on how fast the ball is travelling ad the amount of spin on the ball.

If the ball is travelling fast and has a lot fo spin it may still not curve very much.  Also if the ball just has a little spin and is travelling very slowly it may curve a lot.

If you are looking for more curve, slow the ball down.

Also it seems to me that sidespin may be around a horizontal axis, in which case you will never see much curve as it travels through the air, though it will bounce off the table at a creater angle.   If the spidspin is around a vertical axis then it will curve muc more through the air but the bounce of the table will be more straight.  Likely it will be harder for the opponent to control it off his bat however.

Well these are my random thoughts on sidespin....I hope i am right!
