Smashing Backspin

Can i do a standard smash against a heavy sliced ball. what adustments to I have to make when dealing with slice. I seem to find top spin a lot more easier to deal with.

Hi Paul,

To smash a backspin or slice ball can be tricky.  You need to be very accurate.  You need to open the face of the bat to allow for the backspin. The backspin will be dragging the ball into the net.  You need to make sure you hit the ball at the very top of the bounce to give yourself the best chance of making this smash.  Of course if the ball is higher, it will become a little easier.

It is preferable to try and smash a topspin ball because you will have a greater margin for error.
