Strokes
I am a good player and I have mastered the snake but I get confused when I had to receive short heavy spins on the table. Also I find it difficult both to hit and receive smashes. Most of my smashes fly into the net, and the ones which land go too high off the table. How to master these 3 things? Please help me Alois.
Hi Aabreeq,
I think the first thing is to focus on the topspin strokes. This will give you a better margin with your faster strokes rather than trying to smash the ball.
When receiving smashes you can move back from the table and use the Lob shot. The main thing here is to still concentrate on the topspin on the ball.
To understand better how to receive short heavy spins take a look at the tutorial on Returning Spin serves. The principles applied here will help you with this type of ball.

The humble push does not sound like an exciting stroke but it is one of the most important shots in Table Tennis. Having a great short push can be the difference between being an average player and being a great player. Make sure you allocate the appropriate amount of practice to mastering the push.
