Hi PingSkills!

I am a big fan of your videos and tutorials! and now I need your help!

My question is What do I do if my opponent returns a high ball with much under spin and if it gets pretty long.

Often I then tend to smash into the net and lose the Point.

Hi Joel,

This is a really common error.

The idea is to still lift the ball a little even though it is high.  The backspin will drag the ball into the net.  You can put a little topspin on your shot or open the angle of your racket when playing the smash.  Also, don't be tempted to try and hit the ball too hard.  Make sure you get the ball on the table into a  reasonable position and keep the advantage int he rally.  I see too many players tempted to hit the ball really hard because it is high and end up dragging the ball into the net.  A good topspin off this ball will keep you in a dominant position.
