Hi Alois,

playing the slow spinny topspin has proved to be quite succesful during the last matches. Now I wonder if there´s a similar stroke for the backhand or a technique to increase the topspin on slow longer balls?

Thanks

Manfred

Hi Manfred,

The principles are exactly the same with the upward motion and the fine brushing contact.  You can use your wrist more on the backhand so often don't need to start as low.  You can start just below table height and by using your wrist quickly you can lift those balls with heavy slow topspin as long as you get the contact right.

The Push in Detail

The humble push does not sound like an exciting stroke but it is one of the most important shots in Table Tennis. Having a great short push can be the difference between being an average player and being a great player. Make sure you allocate the appropriate amount of practice to mastering the push.
