Hi Alois , can a good short serve bounce more than twice before going off the table if not hit. Also can a serve be too slow.

Regards Laurie.

Hi Laurie,

The serve is allowed to bounce more than twice if it was left.  You can serve the ball as short as you want.

As long as the serve is low and short it will be difficult for your opponent to gain an advantage.

A good short serve would generally bounce multiple times on the table before going off. Depending on the spin, it may even stay on the table or go back into the net.

I don't think a serve can be too slow. Short serves are generally slow serves. Just try to keep it low and short!

It can be dangerous to serve too short if your opponent can flip well. The closer the ball to the net, the easier it is to flip. So it can be better to have your second bounce be a bit further. But it is just my opinion.
