Strokes

Hi, coach!

I play three times in a week, but I don't feel pain in the shoulder if I don't train BH topspin. I noticed that when I train BH topspin I start to feel pain in my shoulder. During the BH hits I tried to relax shoulders, hands, elbows,  fingers id est everything, but still.  Does it mean my technique is very wrong?

My racket is very heavy, but I like it. If I only play there is no any problem. When I train BH topspin , I feel pain in my shoulder. Because I hit BH topspin lots of times in a row with heavy racket.  Won't it be harmful to my game if I use lighter racket to my BH topspin training?  I am afraid  I can get used to lighter racket, and I will do lots of mistakes in the game because of the difference of racket.

Hi Ardak,

If you have tried relaxing the shoulder through the stroke it may just mean that you have an issue with your shoulder that you need looking at.  I would go and see a physiotherapist or someone with some knowledge in the area.

Using a lighter racket can still allow you to play faster strokes.  You can try to change your racket for training and for matches.

Hi, coach!

I felt pain when I trained BH topspin against the wall without table. At home I throw the ball to the air and hit the ball with BH side. Recently I trained BH topspin in the TT club 2 hours. Felt no pain!

Today at home tried to hit the ball with BH side to the wall a couple of times, I immediately felt the pain! I think I found the problem!
