Equipment
Hi,
I'm 14 years old and I've been playing TT seriously for about 2 years. I'm currently using Yasaka Mark V for both the sides of my paddle (stiga all-round classic).
I'm an attacking player but my forehand is much stronger than my backhand. I'm seeing that my loops can be a lot better from both sides. Should I try a different blade or different set of rubbers?
Thanks,
Vidhur
Hi VIdhur,
You are probably ready to move up in speed of rubber. There are a whole lot of options. We tend to use Rakza 7 rubber as the step up from Mark V.
There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!

Hi Vidhur. I agree with Alois. Keep the blade and upgrade the rubber. That said, if you think you still need help with control on the backhand, I wouldn't got too fast and maybe stick with the Mark V. You could always go slightly thicker (assuming you aren't using max already) to get a bit more speed. On the forehand the Rakza 7 is certainly and alternative, and you might want to look at the Rakza X, which I really like. It has similar speed to the R7 but seems to have better control and feel. Another to consider is the Tibhar Aurus which is quite similar to the Rakza. Any of these will give you a good lift in speed and spin over the Mark V and suit an attacking style at OFF/OFF+ level.
Good luck.
