I would like some help in deciding what shot to play in 2 different situations -

1. While returning a serve

2. In the middle of a rally

What are the things to look for before deciding on your shot? How can I become good at the shot selection process in the heat of a match?

Hi Vishal,

Your shot selection depends on the type of ball you are receiving.  If the ball is long (only one bounce on your side you need to think about making an attacking topspin stroke.  If it is short then you have the option of pushing or flicking the ball.

This applies to both the return of serve or during the rally.

Shot selection improves the more you play the game.  It is not something that can be forced, but you will learn it over time.
