I find serving short very tough and even when I get it right my opponent smashes, flicks.i can never get them to do a defensive push against the serve. All my serves now are long so can you tell me how to do a short serve . thanks

Hi Benedict,

To get the ball shorter you can try brushing the ball finer.  The finer the contact the shorter the ball will go.

This can take a while to get right because it is such a fine skill.  It requires a lot of serving practice before you will feel comfortable to do it in an important match situation.

Keep working towards this because it is an important part of improving your game.

Our course on Serving Secrets has plenty more information on this area of your game.
