Strokes
Hello, what's the best way to contact the ball when trying to make a short push? Before the top of the bounce, at the top of the bounce or maybe slightly after the top of the bounce?
Hi Dariusz,
To get the ball short on your opponent's side it is best to contact the ball as early as possible off the bounce. That will mean that you are closer to the net making it easier to push it back close to the net on your opponent's side.
The forehand counterhit or forehand drive is the foundation for more attacking strokes such as the forehand topspin or forehand loop. There are 3 critical factors:
If you concentrate on these 3 factors then your stroke will become extremely consistent. Once you can reliably hit 100 balls in a row then you are ready for more attacking strokes. If you can hit 1,000 balls on in a row then you know you've truly mastered the stroke.
